According to the current reports on American Obesity, “structural and social determinants are significantly influencing the rates of obesity among adults and youth.  Factors such as structural racism, discrimination, poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, and lack of access to quality healthcare are key drivers of the differences in obesity rates across racial and ethnic groups. These systemic barriers make it inappropriate to assign blame to individuals with obesity for their weight.”

In A Nutshell: Obesity statistics are consistent with poverty, and poverty is consistent with racial disparity. In addition, high-processed, high-calorie, low-nutrient food is cheap compared to low-calorie, high-nutrient rich food. However, in all of this research, while everyone is trying to explain “why” the statistics are so bad and “why” obesity is only going to get worse, nobody is offering a solution. At the end of the fasting guide, I will share the turn-key solution to help you successfully reach your target weight. Hint: It’s easier and less expensive than you would think.

From Bad to Worse: There is also a direct correlation between the rise of obesity and the rise of chronic diseases in the United States. According to the CDC, costly heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes, cancer, chronic pain, Alzheimers/dementia (now being called type-3 diabetes) and mental disorders such as anxiety and depression are all related to being overweight. Lets connect the dots. Poverty-obesity-chronic disease… now threatens American national security with unsustainable and unimaginable healthcare costs with no end in site – if we don’t change the course.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Chronic diseases are the leading causes of illness, disability, and death in the United States. They are also the leading drivers of our nation’s $4.1 trillion in annual health care costs. Chronic disease in the United States, already highly prevalent, is expected to worsen over the next several decades among all age groups. The burden of the associated physical and economic costs will worsen as well. Chronic disease are directly related to excess weight – abdominal and visceral fat specifically. The fatter you are, the higher the risk
